Issuance of IDs

1. Each applicant has to appear in person with a dully filled 136D form.
2. Applications for National ID’s will only be accepted on appointment at [email protected]
3. The processing of ID’s will take approximately 8 weeks from the date of application.
4. Applicants are required to bring three (3) passport photographs taken on a white background; following this dimensions 35mm x 45mm (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm).

5. Holders of first generation (large ID) are considered first time applicants and should fulfill all the requirements as indicated below under.

REQUIREMENTS

6. First time applicants and holders of 1^st generation identity car

• Duly filled form Reg.136A
• Three (3) passport photographs taken on a white background
• Original and Copy of Birth Certificate of the applicant
• Original and Copy of Valid Kenyan passport of the applicant
• Copy of Kenyan Identity Card of either parent of the applicant
• The Original 1^st generation Identity card (Requirement for holders of 1^st generation Identity card)
• A money Order/Cashier’s Check of US$50 (Payable to the Kenya Consulate, Los Angeles)
• A prepaid, self-addressed FedEx, UPS, United States Postal Service (USPS) Express overnight or Priority mail with delivery confirmation return envelope must be submitted will all applications. 

7. OR:

1. • Duly filled form Reg.136A
   • Three (3) passport photographs taken on a white background
   • Original and copy of Kenyan Certificate of Registration
   • Copy of Naturalization Certificate
   • Original and copy of Kenyan passport of the applicant
   • A money Order/Cashier’s Check of US$50 (Payable to the Kenya Consulate, Los Angeles)
   • A prepaid, self-addressed FedEx, UPS, United States Postal Service (USPS) Express overnight or Priority mail with delivery confirmation return envelope must be submitted will all applications.

8. Replacement of lost/ Duplicate/ Mutilated Identity Card
   • Duly filled form Reg.136A
   • Two (2) passport photographs taken on a white background
   • Copy of a police report or a notarized affidavit stating how you lost your Identity Card (for lost cases only)
   • Original and Copy of Birth Certificate of the applicant
   • Copy of the applicant’s Identity Card (if available)
   • Original and copy of the applicant’s Kenyan passport
   • Original Identity Card (for duplicate or mutilated applications)
   • A money Order/Cashier’s Check of US$50 (Payable to the Kenya Consulate, Los Angeles)
   • A prepaid, self-addressed FedEx, UPS, United States Postal Service (USPS) Express overnight or Priority mail with delivery confirmation return envelope must be submitted will all applications.

9. Change of Particulars
   • Duly filled form Reg.136A
   • Two (2) passport photographs taken on a white background
   • Original Identity Card of applicant.
   • Proof of marriage i.e. Original and copy of marriage certificate.
   • Original and copies of the couples’ IDs
   • Original and copy of the applicant’s Kenyan passport
   • Please note for married ladies who wish to change their name to reflect the married name, the husband must be present during the application process.
   • A money Order/Cashier’s Check of US$50 (Payable to the Kenya Consulate, Los Angeles)
   • A prepaid, self-addressed FedEx, UPS, United States Postal Service (USPS) Express overnight or Priority mail with delivery confirmation return envelope must be submitted will all applications.
